I hate to ride on the coattails a string of tragic drownings on the Snoqualmie River, but I need to ask why the Si View Pool is closed on weekends, except for private birthday parties.

I was told there were two reasons: There are not enough lifeguards and the capacity of the pool is not enough to handle the large number of people that would come.

It appears there are lifeguard openings. Do kids not want summer jobs anymore?

If there was such a large demand for a pool on weekends, it would seem that people demand a larger outdoor pool at Si View.
