After an initial slow start in their opener, the Eagles varsity football team has rebounded with two impressive back to back victories over Chief Kanim and Twin Falls during the week of Oct 8. Against the Hawks, it was a battle of offenses with both teams proving tough to stop. Led by quarterback Chris Hollabaugh and his two touchdowns, the Eagles were in the lead going into the fourth quarter. It came down to which team was going to push through the last score. With time running out and facing a fourth down, Colby Weldon stretched out past the yard marker for the first down to keep the chains moving. In the final minutes of the game, Tyler Smith scampered in for the final touchdown. A Gerritt Jones interception sealed the victory for the Eagles, 24-22. Against the Ravens, Tyler Smith, with a crucial springing block from Matt Mounsey, bolted up the middle for a sixty yard kickoff return for a touchdown to tie the score. With Zach Brooks upending running backs, Ty Wright and Smith corralling the outside, and Robb Rainey and Mounsey plugging the middle, the Eagles were able to forge back into the lead with impressive outside touchdown runs by Weldon resulting in two scores and a 22-14 victory.
