With a win 7-3 over South Whidbey on Wednesday, April 4, the Cedarcrest fastpitch softball team added another win to its record, now 5 and 1 after six Cascade Conference games.

The Lady Red Wolves brought a lot of enthusiasm to the game, which carried them through two scoreless innings, despite South Whidbey missing a few of its starters. In the first and second inning, Cedarcrest scored one run each, and none in the third and fourth.

Only five girls had hits against the opposing pitcher, A. Kubeska, but they made them count in the fifth and sixth innings, scoring 2 and 3 runs, respectively. South Whidbey made one run in the second inning, and two in the fifth.

Cedarcrest pitcher Stephanie Hall pitched the full seven innings with no errors. She struck out three South Whidbey batters, and had eight hits for the game. South Whidbey’s Kubeska had one error, and seven strike-outs in six innings.

In her turn at bat, Hall earned two singles, and two RBIs. First-base player Kailyn Campbell got a double, a single and an RBI, followed by teammates Maddy Harris with a triple and 2 RBIs, and Allie McCain and Kalle Fowler, each with an RBI.

Cedarcrest plays next at Coupeville on Friday, 4 p.m., and at Lakewood, Thursday, April 12.
