Mount Si football coach Charlie Kinnune was recently named The Seattle Seahawks High School Coach of the Week, after the team’s Sept. 15 win over Eastlake High School.
Kinnune was one of two coaches selected for the honor; Jim Wood of Freeman High School was also named a winner in the third week of the program.
Each week during the high school football season, the Washington State Football Coaches Association select two high school football coaches as the Coaches of the Week.
Each Coach of the Week receives a $500 grant from the NFL toward their football program. At the end of the high school season, one of the coaches is named the NFL High School Coach of the Year for the state and is awarded a $2,000 grant.
Kinnune and Freeman were named in Week 3. Past recipients this year include: Greg Dailer, Arlington High School and Jonathan Randall, Clover Park High School in Week 2; and Wayne Maxwell, Woodinville High School, and Adam Fisher, East Valley High School, in Week 1.
