Mount Si High School returned to Kingco play last Friday, Oct. 10, hosting the Mercer Island Islanders. For the second straight week, the Wildcats took control early, and were able to bring in a lot of players as a result.
Matt Bankston and Sean Snead each scored a pair of touchdowns as the Wildcats took care of Mercer Island, 41-16, getting the Wildcats up to a 3-3 record on the season.
“It was a good night for us,” said Mount Si coach Charlie Kinnune. “Our offense is really running on all cylinders right now; our defense, for the most part, is doing a pretty good job with the big plays.”
The scoring opened quickly for the Wildcats in the first quarter. After the defense sent the Islander offense packing on their opening drive, Mount Si’s offense got to work. A 30-yard pass from Tyson Riley to Rossco Castagno set up Snead, who then ran the ball three times, finishing with a three-yard scamper into the end zone for the 6-0 Wildcat lead.
Mercer Island’s offense threatened on their next possession, but the Mount Si defense stopped the Islanders on fourth down just a few yards shy of their end zone, turning the game firmly in the Wild
