The Mount Si gymnastics team once again dominated as they took care of the Sammamish Totems last week, 157.65-139.4.
Mount Si’s Georgia Reynolds won the all-around, sweeping titles in all four events (vault, bars, beam, floor) to record a score of 36.3, easily beating teammate Rachel Karavias, who finished second in the all-around with a 32.4. Brittany Cragin (fourth, 32.0), and Kennedy Richmond (fifth, 31.4) also had solid all-around scores.
As mentioned, Reynolds won all four events. In the vault, she scored an 8.8, narrowly beating Sammamish’s Alex Osborn, who scored an 8.6 to finish second. Richmond (third, 8.45), Cragin (fourth, 8.2) and Karavias (fifth, 8.1) all had strong efforts in this event to pace the Wildcats.
Reynolds’ 9.0 on the bars led a top-four sweep of this apparatus by Mount Si. Cragin (second, 7.3), Karavias and Richmond (t-third, 6.6) all participated in the sweep, and Lexi Swanson (sixth, 6.0) also did well in this event.
Reynolds’ closest battle was on the beam, but it was with Karavias. Reynolds (9.05) beat out Karavias (9.0) by five-one hundredths of a point for the top spot, a very tight finish indeed, but indicative of how well the Wildcat gymnasts are developing in this early point of the season. Cragin (fourth, 8.05) and Richmond (fifth, 7.7) again continued their solid performances.
On the floor, Reynolds’ 9.45 held up against Karavias 8.7 for the victory. Karavias’ score tied her for second with Osborn of the Totems, and Richmond (fourth, 8.65) and Cragin (fifth, 8.45) finished their excellent nights with good scores in this event.
This meet was part of a quad meet with Interlake and Liberty, but Mount Si’s scores only counted against the Totems.
Mount Si is home for their first of three meets of the season Thursday, Dec. 18, as they take on Liberty at 7 p.m. This will be the last meet before the winter break.
