Nick Harpel, playing for the Redmond-based Dow 16

baseball club, recently returned from the USSSA 16-year-old World

Series hardball tournament in Oklahoma City. Harpel’s team went

undefeated in eight games to take the championship in a field of 32 teams.

Harpel played at three different positions going 3-for-6 with four

RBIs with several sacrifice hits that contributed to the teams win. He also

pitched three scoreless innings as a starter, but admits he had a little trouble with

the oversized height of the mound.

The team had a great week and visited several sites, including

the Oklahoma Federal Building memorial. Team members topped the

week off by receiving their championship medals. Harpel is Junior a at

Mount Si High School and a member of the varsity baseball squad.
