Eagles bounce Bulldogs

The Snoqualmie Middle School eighth-grade Eagles played a spirited basketball game recently against Beaver Lake in what turned out to be a high-scoring contest. Taylor McCain set the bulldogs on their heels with drives through the lane and bank shots, scorching the nets for 13 first-half points. With Max Nelson swatting shots and Frank McLaughlin clearing the boards, the Eagles continued to apply pressure in the second half. Alex Anderson sliced through the key, scoring 15 points on soft-touch hoops, while Kevin Isackson calmly drained shots from the outside, racking up a total of 20 points. Caleb Williams continued to thwart defenders trying to stay up with his speed, contributing another 17 points from full court drives and jump shots. Ian Brown arched in a three-pointer from long range while McLaughlin added three. McCain led all scorers with 21 points, but it was a classic team effort, from rebounding, to player assists, with four players in double digits, culminating in an 84-53 victory.

Eagles handle Hawks

With two cross-Valley rivals entering the basketball game undefeated, it was no surprise the eighth-grade varsity match-up between Chief Kanim and Snoqualmie middle schools had both intensity and drama. Chief Kanim charged out to an early lead in the first half, but this effort was held in check by the Eagles’ Caleb Williams who connected for seven points. Teammate Taylor McCain added another eight first-half points to keep the contest close at 29-23.

The Eagles played some inspired ball in the second half to turn things around in their favor. Kevin Isackson and Ian Brown both stepped up their game and connected on some clutch shots from outside the key to lead the comeback effort, scoring eight points each. Max Nelson added six off the glass, while grabbing rebounds and preventing second-half put-back baskets. McCain proved he was tough to handle on the inside, finishing the game with 13 points. Williams power dribbled his way through defenders for off-the-glass hoops, scoring eight third quarter points as the Eagles moved out ahead to stay, 41-36. Williams led scorers with 19 as the Eagles clawed their way to a 53-46 victory and improved their record to 5-0.
