Sam Evans, senior goalkeeper on the Mount Si soccer team, anchored the Snohomish United soccer team to a victory in the Washington State Cup on Sunday, March 7.
Snohomish defeated the two-time defending champions Eastside FC with a score of 2-1. Snohomish was undefeated in the tournament, with Evans allowing only one goal.
In the regular season, Evans led the team to an unprecedented 10-0 record to clinch the top spot in the P1 division for U-18 boys. Only three goals were scored against Snohomish in those 10 games.
Evans will now participate in the Far West Regional tournament in Albuquerque at the end of June. He is being recruited by several colleges to play soccer next year.
