Athletes in Mount Si’s track and field contingents broke into top-10 placing during state championships last weekend at Mount Tahoma High School. Top performers included several Mount Si throwers and vaulters.
In boys shotput, junior Kolton Auxier took eighth overall, while senior Doc Derwin took 13th. Zach Storm took eighth in the javelin throw with 171 feet, 11 inches, followed by Bradly Stevens with a 160-foot, six-inch launch. Auxier took 12th at discus, followed by Storm at 13th.

Mount Si’s 4×100 relay team of Kaleb Huerta, Mason Bragg, Shane Blankenburg and Tyler Button took seventh place. Jimbo Davis took 11th place in the pole vault with an 11 foot, six-inch vault. Mason Bragg took 15th in the 400 meter dash with 53 second, and Nate Chase took 12th in the 300 hurdles.

The Mount Si boys took seventh as a team.

For the girls, junior Lexi Swanson took tenth in the pole vault with a nine-foot vault.

“I was so nervous,” Swanson said of her state visit, her first as a track and field athlete. “This was way different.”

Sophomore Ashley Jackson took 12th in the 300 meter hurdles.

Senior Leslie Stevens claimed twelth in the girls javelin with a 107-foot, nine-inch throw. She took twelfth in the triple jump with 34 feet, three quarters of an inch.

The Mount Si boys 4X400 relay team took 14th place.
