Mount Si volleyball team launches sneaker drive fundraiser

Mount Si High School Volleyball Booster Club is holding an athletic shoe drive fundraiser throughout the season, starting with their home match on Sept. 16, to raise money for the volleyball programs.

The team will earn funds based on the total quantity of gently worn, used, and new sneakers collected. GotSneakers, a social enterprise, will issue funds in compensation for the collected sneakers. Anyone can help by simply donating gently worn, used, and new sneakers.

The sneaker recycling program helps keeps sneakers out of landfills, which has harmful effects on the environment, and helps organizations raise much needed funds.

“We are excited about our sneaker drive fundraiser,” said Amy Walker, President of the Mount Si Volleyball Boosters. “We know that most people have extra sneakers in their closets they would like to donate rather than throw away. By doing so, we raise money for the volleyball program and help the environment. It is a win-win for everyone!”

“It is exciting to start another season of volleyball in the valley, and the team is training hard for a great season,” said Brady King, Mount Si Head Volleyball Coach. “We are so appreciative of all the support we receive from this community. It means a ton to the program to have so many fans come out to cheer us on, and to support us through events like the sneaker drive.”

You can donate by coming to any home match during the season and dropping your sneakers into the collection bin. The 2024 home match schedule is as follows (Varsity at 7 p.m.; JV/C at 5 p.m.):
