Mount Si High School saw a strong crop of athletes pick up honors in the Kingco Conference this fall.

Volleyball leads the list, as several athletes and coach Bonnie Foote were recognized by league coaches for their undefeated league season which ended with a spectacular sixth-place finish at state — the best finish there since 1990, when they finished fourth.

Senior Robyn Schirmer and junior Zoe Gogan were named league co-most valuable players for their efforts on the floor, and they were joined by senior Shelagh Macaulay, who made the all-league first team. Juniors Aubrey Larion and Baylee Sinner made the all-league second team, and for Sinner, the award is especially deserving, since she has worked hard throughout the season, and her play improved steadily as a result. Sophomore Sarah McDonald and junior Amanda Gates each landed an honorable mention for their solid contributions as well. Foote earned the league’s Coach of the Year honors, leading the team to a 19-5 record, 12-0 in league play.

The Wildcat girls soccer team also had a sizeable contingent of players make the postseason honor roll. Leading the list is sophomore Laura Barnes, the lone Mount Si player to make the first-team list. Seniors Kelly Besmer and Taylor Warnke and juniors Jessica Hargett and Alexis Pearlstein made the Kingco second-team roster, while seniors Lauren Snead, Meghan Travis and Marika Loudenback, along with freshman Miranda Rawlings, were given honorable mentions for their efforts on the field.

Mount Si’s season ended with a first-round loss in a shootout against Sammamish.

The conference also released the boys’ tennis postseason honors. There was a lone Wildcat on that list, and that name is no surprise: senior Leonard Gebhardt.

The exchange student from Germany had an amazing run through the Kingco Conference this season, and it earned him a runner-up trophy at the Kingco Tournament.

His stellar play earned him a first-team honor from the conference.
