For a fourth straight season, the Mount Si boys basketball team are league champions.
With a 71-62 win over Skyline at Lake Washington High School on Feb. 4, the Wildcats took home the KingCo League title in dominant fashion.
During the regular season, Skyline was one of just two teams to beat Mount Si during its 20-2 campaign. But in their championship match-up, the Wildcats never trailed, and led by as many as 24 points, SBLive, a prep sports website, reported.
The league title continues a string of dominance for the Wildcats, who have appeared in the state finals for the last three seasons – winning it all in 2020.
With the victory, the Cats advance to the KingCo/WesCo District playoffs as the number one seed and will play the winner of a Feb. 9 match-up between Newport and Lake Stevens.
The Wildcats are scheduled to host their next game on Feb. 11 at 7 p.m.
Girls basketball
With their season on the line, the Mount Si Girls Basketball team were victorious over Skyline on Feb. 4.
Playing for seventh place in the KingCo League, the Wildcats (13-9) beat the Spartans 49-35, and became the final team in their league to advance to the KingCo/WesCo District playoffs.
The seventh place finish is two spots off where the Wildcats finished a year ago. Last season, they were eliminated in the second round of the district tournament.
Next-up, the Wildcats will play at Inglemoor on Feb. 8 at 7 p.m. If they win, they will play again on Feb. 10 at Glacier Peak (Snohomish).
