The Mount Si Girls Cross Country team won the state title in a dominant fashion at the WIAA 4A State Championship Meet in Pasco on Nov. 4.
Led by Juniors Aleeya and Hailey Cossey, who individually finished fourth and fifth, the Wildcats scored just 53 points to capture the state title. That was well ahead of conference-rival Issaquah, who took second with 83 points.
Aleeya Cossey finished the 5 kilometer race at Sun Willows Golf Course in 18 minutes and 20 seconds, about 8 seconds ahead of Hailey.
They were followed by teammates Ryan McLellan (16th/19:10), Addison Craig (18th/19:15) , Brighton Dance (25th/19:23), Alexa Coughran (35th/19:36) and Ellie Kampschror (61st/20:11)
The state win comes after the Wildcats had finished seventh and sixth at the state meet in the past two seasons.
Boys Cross Country
The Mount Si Wildcats Boys Cross Country team sent two individuals to the WIAA 4A State Championship meet in Pasco on Nov. 4.
Junior Andrew Krejci finished the 5 kilometer course in 34th place with a time of 16 minutes 39 seconds.
Senior Jacob Espeland finished in 107th place in 17 minutes 25 seconds
Girls Swim
Three school records were set by the Mount Si Girls Swim Team.
The foursome of Siena Nelson, Aspen Sinnott, Josie Schlotfeldt and Olivia Chau, set school records in the 200-meter medley relay (2:00.16) 200-meter free relay (1:46.84) and 400 meter free relay (3:59.22)
Girls Soccer
The Mount Si Girls Soccer team clinched a spot in the state tournament, after a 2-1 win over rival Issaquah in the district tournament semi-final on Nov. 2.
The Wildcats went on to win districts with a 1-0 win over Kamiak in the championship game on Nov. 4.
They are scheduled to play Kentridge at home on Nov. 8 in the opening-round of the state tournament.
Football
The Mount Si Football Team will play on the road against Camas in the first-round of the WIAA 4A state playoffs next weekend.
The Wildcats clinched their spot in the tournament with a 39-14 win over Glacier Peak on Nov. 3.
Volleyball
As part of the end of the season awards, Junior outside hitter Harleigh King was named second-team all-KingCo. Outside hitter Maggie Kamp and libero Sophie Lobet also scored honorable mentions.
The Wildcats lost to Skyline, 3 sets to 2, in the opening round of the double-elimination district tournament. They are scheduled to play their next tournament game during the week of Nov. 7.
Boys Tennis.
The Mount Si Boys Tennis team earned the KingCo Sportsmanship Award. Head Coach Paul Savage was also named co-Coach of the Year. Individually, Roy Maslov was second-team all KingCo, Crest Division.
