Cyclist racing in major event

Fall City cyclist Eric Emsky is off to Europe, preparing for his biggest race yet.

Emsky is currently in Belgium getting ready for the World Cyclocross Championships, being held at the end of this month in neighboring Holland. The opportunity came after Emsky was selected as one of five cyclists to represent the United States in the junior men’s division. According to VeloNews.com, Emsky and the other cyclists were selected based on their efforts during the 2008 season. Emsky is joined on the team by a cyclist from Bainbridge Island and competitors from Kansas and Massachusetts.

Part of his preparation involved racing in a World Cup event in France this past weekend, and he has also attended camps there.

Valley residents interested in learning more about his trip can go to one of two blogs: www.cxmagazine.com (Cyclocross Magazine) or www.radracingnw.org/radblog/ (personal blog). He is posting at both locations on the Web.
