Registration starts for junior track programs
Snoqualmie Valley Track Club is accepting registrations for its competitive track team league.
The Junior Wildcat Track Club started this week and runs through July 9 at Mount Si High School. Practices and meets for youth ages 5 to 14 are held 5:30 to 7 p.m. Tuesdays and Thursdays.
Coaching staff includes Andy Matthews, who qualified for the Olympic trials and coached at the high school and college level.
The Junior Wildcat Track Club will also be welcoming 9- to 14-year-old boys and girls from North Bend, Snoqualmie, Fall City and other cities of East King County to the local Hershey’s Track & Field Meet, Saturday, June 6, at Mount Si High School. Registration opens at 10:30 a.m. and the meet begins at 11:00 a.m.
First and second place finishers in each event will advance to the state meet on Saturday, June 27, in Lacey. Several local meets are being contested across Washington for qualification to the state meet.

Proudfoot named golf association education planner
The Pacific Northwest Junior Golf Association has appointed Brandon Proudfoot as Executive Director of Educational Planning.
Proudfoot has run junior golf programming at Mount Si golf course since 2005, and taught for First-Tee of Greater Seattle, visiting public schools to give those students the opportunity to learn the game of golf. He has also been the golf coach for the Snoqualmie Middle School golf team since 2007.
“I’m excited at the prospect of taking the PNJGA to the next level of programming and service for its members. We’ll provide opportunities for students in the Carnation area and those in the Mount Si golf course area as well,” said Proudfoot.
The Pacific Northwest Junior Golf Association is holding two kickoff events this year in June. The first will be held 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday, June 6 at Carnation Golf Course. The second will be 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday, June 27, at Mount Si Golf Course. These are both free events. Children of all ages are welcome to try golf in games and competitions, meet the instructors and learn more about the PNJGA.
Established in September of 2004, the Pacific Northwest Junior Golf Association is a non-profit organization providing junior golf opportunities for youth in the community. For more information about the PNJGA, visit www.pnjga.com or contact Brandon Proudfoot at (425) 802-5482.
