JV volleyball splits week
The Mount Si High School junior varsity volleyball team opened last week with a loss to Mercer Island. The Wildcats fell in three to the Islanders, 15-25, 25-20. 7-15.
Stephanie Rehm led the way for the Wildcats with four assists and six aces.
Mount Si responded nicely on Wednesday, Oct. 15, with a blowout of Sammamish. Baylee Sinner had five kills, five aces and four digs as the Wildcats won 25-8, 25-13, 15-5. Amanda Beekman had 12 assists and seven aces to pace the Mount Si cause. The team finished the week 5-4 in league, 5-6 overall.
Sweeps for CKMS squads
The Chief Kanim Middle School seventh and eighth grade teams both swept Snoqualmie Middle School last Thursday evening, Oct. 23. The Lady Hawks’ seventh grade varsity team dominated SMS, to wrap up their season with seven wins and three losses. Coaches said Rachel Picchena was outstanding in game one, serving 15 in a row. Shelby Lux got the team back into game two with five serves in a row.
The eighth grade finished their season with a seven-win, three-loss record. Proud coaches said the Lady Hawks had a fabulous season with much growth in their volleyball skills. The varsity team consisted of Kailey Capelouto, Danielle Curley, Shannon Fischer, Elizabeth Holmes, Maria Kajercline, Gen Knoppi, Lydia Lofgren, Chelcee Niebur, Ally Pusich, Zelie Roerts, Lauren Smith and Andrea Suttle.
