Trenkamp makes an impact

Former Mount Si softball star Amy Trenkamp has had a tough first season of college softball, but she still finds a way to make an impact. Trenkamp doubled and tripled in a doubleheader sweep by her Charleston Southern University women’s softball team over Savannah State March 28.

In the first game, a 13-0 five inning blowout, Trenkamp, in addition to her double, scored two runs, and had two RBIs. The double came in the fifth inning, and that helped to set off an eight-run CSU offensive explosion which put the game away. Pitchers Amanda Noble and Whitney James combined on a no-hitter.

Trenkamp’s triple came in the first inning of the second game, with two outs. The freshman also added a run and another run batted in to the Buccaneer cause as CSU won that game 10-2, also in five innings.

Trenkamp doubled again and picked up another RBI for the Bucs in a game April 7 against Appalachian State, but CSU fell in the contest 4-2.
