Wildcats to hold softball camp

The Mount Si High School softball team is holding its annual softball camp from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. March 20 at the high school. Players in the first through eighth grade and any coaches are welcome to attend. Instruction will be on the fundamentals of hitting, pitching, fielding, catching and base running and will be taught by Mount Si players and coaches. The cost is $35 per person and includes a camp T-shirt and lunch. Coaches may attend for free.

SVYSA hosts tryouts

The Snoqualmie Valley Youth Soccer Association will be hosting tryouts for the Cascade Select soccer teams on March 20 and 21 (and some mid-week dates) for age groups U11 through U19, or those born between Aug. 1 1993, through July 31, 1996.

Gymnast competes in Arizona

Georgia Reynolds, a level six gymnast from North Bend, competed at the Desert Devil Classic 2004 held in Scottsdale, Ariz., recently. She placed first for all-around in her level in the junior age division. Her vault score was 9.575, good enough for first place. In the bars she took second with a score of 9.075. In the beam she took third with a score of 8.4 and in the floor she took eighth with a score of 8.575. Her all around score was 35.625.

The Mount Si High School baseball team is holding its annual baseball camp. The camp will be held Sat.,March 13, from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. at the high school. Players in the first- through eighth-grade and any coaches are welcome to attend. Instruction will be on the fundamentals of hitting, pitching, fielding, catching and base running and will be taught by Mount Si players and coaches. The cost is $35 per person and includes a camp T-shirt and lunch. Coaches may attend for free.

Registration will be available at the beginning of the camp or call Mount Si High School at (425) 831-8100 for information. In case of rain, bring tennis shoes for inside the gymnasium.


Hill wins slalom

Carole Hill, representing the United States Telemark Ski Team from Snoqualmie Pass, was the top U.S. women finisher in recent slalom competition at the U.S. National Telemark Championships. Larissa Pitton from Sion, Switzerland won the event.


Local gymnasts place

Two level six North Bend gymnasts competed at the Chocolate Classic hosted by Leading Edge Gymnastics in Everett. Georgia Reynolds, competing for Gymnastics East, won second place for all around in the 11-year-old age group. Her scores were a 9.0 for the vault, 8.85 for the bars, 8.9 for the beam and 8.95 for the floor.

Miranda Roberts, also from Gymnastics East, won sixth place for all-around in the 11-year-old age group. Her scores were 8.075 for the vault, 8.0 for the bars, 8.75 for the beam and 8.05 for the floor.


Sign up for adult softball league

It’s time for the big kids to warm up their throwing arms as the Snoqualmie Softball League signs up players on a first come, first served basis beginning in March. The NSA-sanctioned adult men’s, women’s and co-ed league will play all games at Centennial Fields in Snoqualmie starting in July. There will be 14 games in the regular season with seven weeks of doubleheaders. League entry fees are $550 per team, including the 2004 NSA registration fee.
