Football youth camp nears

Football youth camp nears

Among sports camps led by Mount Si High School coaches and players this summer is a middle school football camp, to be held 6 to 8:30 p.m., July 14 to 17.

For ages 7 to 9, the camp will be held 6 to 8:30 p.m., July 21 to 24.

For players age 10 to 13, camp will be held 6 to 8:30 p.m., July 28 to 31.

High school tennis camp planned

Eastside tennis pro Vince Gregory has announced dates for his summer camp at Mount Si High School, aimed at high-school age players.

Camp is planned for August 18 to 22, between 5 and 7:30 p.m. in the evenings at the school tennis courts. Cost is $120.

Sessions are meant to get high school players ready for the upcoming high school tennis season, which as always is expected to be tough in Kingco 3A. The campers will learn new skills and fundamentals that will help them get better in the sport.

Campers will need to bring their own racquet and non-marking tennis shoes.

ESPN golf challenge visits Carnation Golf Course

The 2008 ESPN National Golf Challenge was held recently at the Carnation Golf Course.

Held Saturday, June 21 and presented by Callaway Golf, the ESPN National Golf Challenge was an amateur two-person better ball tournament. Designed to find America’s best two-some, in both gross and net divisions, the event draws teams of men and women with a maximum allowable handicap of 24 strokes in the Net Division.

Winners advance to the national finals, to be held in Las Vegas on Oct. 24, 25 and 26.

Tour de Peaks bike race set

The Snoqualmie Valley Hospital’s Tour de Peaks bicycle race is scheduled to be held July 27 on the roads around the Valley.

This is the 20th anniversary of the event, which according to organizers was created to celebrate the centennial anniversary of the city of Snoqualmie.

The rides this year are designed for all participants, with different age and skill levels. They include a 100 kilometer ride, a 50 kilometer event, and shorter four and 14-mile courses for more novice or family riders.

The start/finish area for all races is at Meadowbrook Farm in North Bend, and is sponsored by the Snoqualmie Valley Chamber of Commerce, in addition to the hospital.

Live music, sponsored by the Snoqualmie Casino, will take place at the start/finish point at the farm, and participants can enter raffles for prizes including new bikes.
