SMS runners improving times

The Snoqualmie Middle School cross country team has completed half of their season and are working hard, showing improvement and enjoying their season, coaching staff told the Record.

The team includes mostly sixth and seventh graders, whose first competition this season was the League Invitational held at Beaver Lake Middle School. Athletes participating in this first race were seventh graders Tainui Wihongi, Spencer Ricks, Brennan Rose, Alanna Hayes, Erin Rylands and Emma Bateman, and sixth graders Colby Weldon, Mason Maddox, Anders Howard, Kennedy Ray, Alex Johns, Aaron Robey, Kevin Pusich, Lily Cason, Annie Shaw and Kennedy Stinson.

The team hosted Mercer Island Middle School on Thursday, Sept. 25. Eagles with impressive times or personal records in this meet were Emma Bateman, Alanna Hayes, Brennan Rose, Mason Maddox, Anders Howard, Aaron Robey, Kevin Pusich, Kennedy Stinson and Annie Shaw.

On Thursday, Oct. 2, the Eagles hosted Maywood Middle School. Valley runners were outnumbered, but many posted their best times of the season. Emma Bateman, Tainui Wihongi, Spencer Ricks, Erin Rylands, Brennan Rose, Colby Weldon, Aaron Robey, Kevin Pusich and Annie Shaw all had a personal best.
