State title on the line for Mount Si baseball Saturday in Tacoma

Mount Si High School’s boys baseball team plays for a state title, 4 p.m. Saturday, May 28, at Cheney Stadium in Tacoma.

The title shot follows a 3-2 win over Kamiakin Friday, May 27, at Tacoma.

Mount Si took the lead 2-0 in the first inning Friday with a home run by Tim Proudfoot that also scored Robb Lane. The score stayed put until the fifth, when Kamiakin’s Joey Jansen hit Jonny Allen home.

In the sixth, Proudfoot scored on an error by the catcher to widen the lead, and then Kamiakin’s Blake Raekes scored on a hit by Justin Berneske.

Wildcat Pitcher Trevor Lane held off Kamiakin in the bottom of the seventh to end it.
