Bellevue College Bulldogs softball player Maddy Trout is thrilled she chose to continue her career just 20 miles from her hometown after graduating from high school in June of 2017.
Trout, who graduated from Mount Si High School two years ago, is currently one of the best hitters on the Bellevue roster. Trout is batting .380 and has scored 18 runs and has 15 RBIs during her sophomore season thus far with the Bulldogs. The sophomore catcher/first baseman said she lives with five of her teammates near the Bellevue College campus and is enjoying the college experience thoroughly.
“It is just a great family kind of setting,” Trout said of being a Bulldog.
The Bulldogs have compiled a sterling overall record of 21-4 during the 2019 season thus far.
“We’re killing it. We feel unstoppable. I feel like there is not a lot of pressure. Our pitchers are great and we got a great defense,” Trout said. “It just feels so supportive to have that kind of skill-set behind us.”
Trout said Bulldogs’ head coach Leah Francis is a special leader in the dugout.
“She is honestly the best coach I have ever had. Everyone loves her. She is just so great,” Trout said. “We know that Leah is going to expect a lot from us but we give everything to her every day.”
Trout is grateful her family and friends can make the short trek from the Snoqualmie Valley to Bellevue for the majority of her games.
“It is just really great having everyone around be so close,” she said.
Recently the Snoqualmie Valley Record had an opportunity to ask Trout some questions about her life away from the softball field.
