Wildcat Rookie Red team heads to playoffs

The Wildcat Junior Football Association’s Rookie Red team heads into the playoffs Saturday, Oct. 23, at Mount Si field against Bothell.

The Rookie Red team consists of 7- to 9-year-olds all from the Snoqualmie area, playing as Wildcats. Half of the team are newcomers to tackle football.

Two seasons ago, under the direction of Coach Casey Taylor, Rookie Red was the first rookie team to make it to the playoffs in WCJFA history.

This season, Coach Taylor has developed an undefeated team with seven wins. The boys only let up 6 points the entire season. Previously coaching at the high school level out of state, Taylor has brought great experience and integrity.

The Wildcat Rookie Red is a member of the Wildcat Junior Football Association and a franchise of Greater Eastside Junior Football Association.

The GEJFA was founded in 1963 by the Boys and Girls Club to provide a tackle football program that is respectful of their philosophy.

The Junior Wildcats consists of four levels: Rookie, Cubs, Sophomore and Junior Varsity.
