The Mount Si High School girls golf team heads into the postseason this week, having split their final two regular season matches last week.

The Wildcats traveled to Liberty and got a decisive win, 267-297, over the Patriots. Both Mount Si seniors, Katie Somers and Jen Sanford, had strong rounds on the Maplewood Golf Course in Renton. Somers shot a medalist round of 37 on the par-36 course to lead the Wildcats, while Sanford fired a 47. Alison Cunningham and Emily Shed both led Liberty with rounds of 55.

The Wildcats closed out the season on a tough note last Thursday, April 24, as they fell to Newport.

Senior Katie Somers shot a medalist round of 40 to close out her final high school regular season, but it was Newport who won 237-276. Kelly Lee shot a round of 43 on the Mount Si Golf Course layout to lead the Knights. Sanford, the other Mount Si senior, did not play in the contest.

Mount Si heads into postseason play with the Kingco Medalist Tournament, which is set for Tuesday, May 6, at the Snohomish Golf Course. Look for Somers and Sanford to lead the way for the Wildcats; both are potentially in position to make state once again this season.
